It's possible to collect postcards related to a very specific field. Among possible themes, some of them are more famous.

Postcard itself can be a good subject: photographers, publishers, or postcards shops are usual subjects: from taking the shot to processing and selling, all steps are shown on postcards. There were even postcards showing postcards collectors and their albums

Any subject could lead to topical collection, and such collection can be extended to other media than postcard. Some subjects however are more popular. Usually these postcards show scenes that no longer exist. Postcards tells us that what was familiar a century ago may have disappear suddenly.
