Brittany remains among the French regions appreciated for its typical way of life and picturesque landscape. 

In the 1900s, Brittany was already considered as an attractive region. Many painters like Paul Gauguin went to Pont-Aven. Although tourism was not as developped as it is nowadays, many postcards editors were interested in the countryside, the local population and their daily life.

Costumes, customs, weddings... remain now as a testimony of the life in this region a century ago. Most of these pictures are frequently still used to illustrate books about Brittany.
